Belmont High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in Lake Macquarie and on Awabakal land. The school was established as the first high school outside of Newcastle in 1953 and draws its enrolments from the Belmont, Belmont North, Floraville and Jewells communities. Belmont High School is a proud member of the Wakul Karabang Community of Schools and Minimbah AECG, working in partnership to improve student outcomes. In 2026, the school recorded 853 students, including 130 Aboriginal students and 7 Inclusive Education classes.

Our school is committed to fostering an inclusive and holistic approach to learning, wellbeing and pathways for every student. The school offers a  Specialist Class Program in Academic Enrichment, Sport and CAPA, an After School Study Centre that operates for 2 afternoons per week and have recently established our Aboriginal Student Engagement Centre.

Belmont High School has a culture of excellence in sport with particular success in diving and trampolining. The renowned creative and performing arts program includes exemplary concert band, stage band, percussion and choral music ensembles. Proudly, we have a Deputy Principal Inclusion and Support and Head Teacher Learning and Wellbeing that lead our learning and support team that includes our School Psychologists, Learning and Support Teachers, Student Support Officer and 2 Aboriginal Education Officers.

Students also receive extensive support in accessing School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships and transition to local industry and tertiary study post school pathways. The Real Schools and Positive Behaviour for Learning programs focus on developing the qualities of respect, responsibility and resilience in our students through restorative practices.
