NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
Approved Providers of SRE in a Combined Arrangement - AUTHORISATION LETTER
SRE at Belmont High
At Belmont High School, we provide Special Religious Education (SRE), previously known as scripture, to students in Year 7. For more information about SRE, please access: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculum/learning-across-the-curriculum/religion-and-ethics
On enrolment in Year 7, parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the Administration Office in writing.
Thanks to the generous support of the combined churches of the Hunter our school is able to offer Special Religious Education (SRE). This program is initially offered to Year 7 students during a timetabled lesson on Mondays once per fortnight.
Our SRE teacher is Samantha Brown. Samantha has a Teaching degree, Theological Degree and an Arts Degree. She also has her Working with Children Check and has been approved by all the local Christian Churches.
Lessons are designed around the Think Faith www.thinkfaith.com.au and PeaceWiseKids Curriculum www.peacewisekids.org, which are NSW Department of Education approved. Each week, Samantha likes to utilise games, online media, science and creative discussion to allow students to learn and discover.
Students who do not attend SRE will attend alternative meaningful activities supervised by one of their class teachers.
Please feel free to contact the school, or Samantha Samantha.brown99@det.nsw.edu.au if you wish to find out more about SRE.
