Funeral Service - James Hayman

Grief support

Dear Parents/Carers,

Belmont High School is seeking to support our students to attend and engage with the funeral service of Year 11 student, James Hayman. We again offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to James' family, friends and peers.

The funeral will be held on Friday, 16 October at 11:00am. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is by invitation only. Families of students who have been invited to attend the service on Friday are kindly requested to inform the school if your child will be absent on the day, or if a variation will be required to leave early from school.

Belmont High School is seeking to support any students who wish to view the service through a livestream that is available via the following link:

It is requested of parents/carers that students view the service from home in a supported manner and you inform the school of your child's absence. Understandably, students will not be permitted to view the service at school on their mobile devices.

We request that students do not return to school following the service.

For students attending school, normal timetabled lessons will continue, however, some classes may be taught by a different teacher, or a casual teacher.

Over the coming weeks, additional School Counsellor, Year Advisor and Learning and Wellbeing Team support is available for students both at school, or via phone if unable to attend school. Students are encouraged to access this support if required. I have also attached some resources to support the grieving process.

Thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time for our school community.

Kind regards,

Gareth Erskine

Principal
